Pinnacle Group are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our Total FM delivering a professional, compliance-led Facilities Management coordination service at the University of Staffordshire (USSV), ensuring statutory compliance, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), contractor control, and social value commitments are effectively managed.
You will be joining our Total FM team based in Stoke-on-Trent. The Total FM team provides integrated asset management and maintenance services across the education, leisure, corporate, health and living sectors to ensure facilities operate at their best.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, confidence in carrying out PPM tasks, plumbing repairs, and HVAC maintenance, while reliably performing safety checks across fire systems and emergency equipment, using CAFM systems effectively, and communicating professionally with school staff, site managers, and FM teams.
This is a full time role with alternating shift patterns of 8am-4pm, 8.30am-4.30pm and 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. The candidate will also participate in the on call rota between the hours of 5pm-8pm, all weekends and bank holidays.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out planned maintenance in line with the PPM schedule and complete service reports as required.
- Carry out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works.
- Assist other skilled trades in carrying out maintenance, repairs, testing, inspection, and installation work.
- Where instructed, carry out minor repairs to the building fabric to ensure the safety and security of the premises.
- Collaborate and co‐operate with partners and colleagues to deliver a customer‐focused service.
- Work closely with the Helpdesk to ensure jobs raised on the CAFM system are closed correctly.
Key requirements:
- Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification, such as: NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or Mechanical Maintenance (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven experience carrying out PPMs and reactive maintenance on mechanical plant.
- Knowledge of building services systems, including pumps, motors, valves, pipework and basic mechanical plant.
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety, including risk assessments and permits to work.
- Ability to fault‐find, diagnose, and carry out repairs in a live site environment.
- Experience completing maintenance documentation and CAFM systems.
