Pinnacle Group is looking for a dedicated Mobile Relief Superintendent (School Caretaker) to join our Total FM Team based across the Leeds & Kirklees area to ensure our school buildings and facilities are well-maintained and secure. It is essential that you have your own transport (mileage paid).
Our Total Facilities Management team delivers integrated asset management and maintenance services across education, leisure, corporate, health and residential sectors. We focus on keeping facilities running smoothly, safely, and efficiently – helping our clients create spaces that work for everyone.
Your responsibilities will be to travel across 13 schools in the Leeds and Kirklees area, covering the absence of the Superintendents and the Facilities Assistants (Cleaning Supervisor). You will need to be proactive, detail-oriented, and have excellent problem-solving skills. This is a Permanent Role of 37½ hours per week working Monday to Friday 7am until 3pm during term time, then during school holidays 8am – 4pm. However, when covering for the Facilities Assistant, this will finish at 7 pm with the addition of overtime to cover out-of-hours activities, holidays and sickness cover.

Key responsibilities will include:
- To provide caretaker/superintendent cover as requested for annual leave and sickness across the Leeds/Kirklees PFI schools portfolio; this involves ensuring security, integrity of the school buildings and grounds through locking and unlocking, patrols and monitoring third party lettings.
- Carry out day-to-day duties according to daily schedule, i.e. litter picking, sweeping, spot cleaning toilets and refreshing hand towels and toilet paper.
- Carry out defined Planned Preventative Maintenance responsibilities in accordance with each school’s schedule and individual’s skill base.
Reactive Duties:
- Carry out initial investigations into reactive requests made during the day and making temporary or permanent repairs or otherwise notifying helpdesk of the need to call in a service provider, in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales.
- Respond to emergency situations such as floods, bodily fluids and effecting temporary or permanent rectification in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales.
- Respond to requests for collection of parcels, movement of furniture rearrangement of rooms etc in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales.
- Be observant for H&S issues and ensure that they are rectified or made safe and reported to management.
General Duties:
- Where appropriate provide access, escort, liaise with and assist contractors on site to undertake remedial work or Planned Preventative Maintenance.
- Carry out minor repairs and decoration works.
- Participate in cleaning/deep cleaning activities as and when required.
- Being proactive by noticing deficiencies in the facilities and either rectifying if within capabilities or bringing the defect to the attention of management.
- Any other duties as assigned by management that relate to maintaining the facilities in a clean, functional and aesthetically pleasing state.
- Any other duties that are specific to the school being worked in, e.g. swimming pool maintenance (Kirklees Schools Only).
- Be flexible in shift pattern to cover colleagues' absences due to sickness and annual leave.
- Overall line management of Facilities Assistant and on-site cleaning team.
- Fault reporting to helpdesk.
Out of Hours:
- Be available for lettings of the premises outside of normal hours.
- Participate in providing an out-of-hours emergency call-out service in line with management instructions.
- Maintain communication in the event of any incidents to ensure the availability of school facilities.
Key requirements will include:
- Own Transport is essential, with mileage paid.
- Have a range of general handyperson/DIY skills with the ability to multitask such as minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical.
- To carry out duties as examples: Weekly checking and clearing drains, gullies for blockages; Weekly Fire Alarm point checks alongside weekly test of Fire Alarm System; Monthly meter readings and monitoring of Electrical and Gas consumption; Weekly Flushing of Little Used Water Outlets; Monthly check that fire extinguishers have not been discharged/damaged; Monthly gas/water meter readings; Sweep external areas and removal of fallen leaves and plant debris, especially in autumn months.
- Good verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate well with parties on all levels.
- To meet the child safeguarding regulations, the appointment to this role will be subject to completion of an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS Check) & checkable Work References.
