Overview

In this role you deliver civil design from inception to completion on multi-discipline projects, including assessments, site investigations and planning. You produce calculations, drawings and technical reports, while guiding junior staff and ensuring safety, quality and standards compliance. You’ll work within a team to manage design change and document processes, contributing to feasibility and execution of multi-million-pound civil works. Responsibilities

  • Design projects from inception to completion including calculations and drawings
  • Carry out structures assessments and plan site investigations/surveys
  • Prepare technical reports and draft specifications for civil engineering projects
  • Direct junior personnel as required
  • Produce investigations, reports and specifications while ensuring compliance with standards
  • Implement and record project changes; follow formal processes
  • Estimate task times and manage time records
  • Ensure safety and quality requirements are met across deliverables

Key requirements

  • recognised degree or HNC in Civil Engineering
  • working towards ICE Incorporated Engineer level or above
  • HNC acceptable with minimum 3 years’ experience in design/construction (railway structure design and maintenance emphasis)
  • awareness of construction methods and materials
  • knowledge of Group Standards/HSE Legislation
  • knowledge of Engineering Drawing Practices
  • basic knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
