Overview
You lead on-site surfacing operations across the South East region, combining machine and hand lay bituminous surfacing to meet project budgets and timelines. You work within the Surfacing Division to uphold safety, quality, and efficiency, coordinating labour, plant, and materials while maintaining client relationships. Your role focuses on cost control, performance tracking, and compliance with HSEQ standards to maximise delivery value. This position offers frontline responsibility with impact on project profitability and customer satisfaction, within a busy highways environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance works to meet budgets and timelines
- Allocate labour and resources to operational needs
- Ensure operatives are qualified and trained
- Control costs and optimize performance to maximise profitability
- Build and manage relationships with clients, customers, and supply chain
- Maintain accurate records of works and reconciliations
- Plan and program operations for cost-effective methods
- Implement HSEQ processes and ensure risk assessments and method statements are completed
- Minimise waste and report incidents through proper channels
- Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks
- Submit QMS forms to Contracts Co-ordinator
- Coordinate labour, plant, and material programmes with deadlines
- Agree site measures with clients to mitigate invoice delays
- Conduct regular on-site HSEQ audits
