Job ID: 4851Salary: 45000 - 60,000kLocation: HertfordshireRegion: Hertfordshire, London, South EastA main civil Highways contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to work on multi discipline highways tenders across the south.Working out the Companies Head office the ideal person will be responsible to lead estimates for civil engineering Highways works in accordance with Company estimating systems and procedures, working with other members of tender teams to develop customer solutions and secure sufficient work by value and type to meet the company’s objectives.Responsibilities and DutiesLead estimatesUndertake estimates in accordance with Company proceduresLead team of estimators for larger tenders, mentoring and developing junior estimators Identify opportunity and risk during tender processLiaise with the business unit, Bid Manager and Planner to agree methodology and principlesMaintain register of key assumptions within estimateMaintain tender estimate fileProvide indicative pricing support for business developmentObtain feedback from site teams on estimating adequacy and current costsPresent estimates at adjudicationPrepare estimating “adjudication pack”Present basis of estimate and key assumptionsMaintain notes of adjudication meetingsClose out actions and monitor customer negotiations, seeking amended authority as requiredHandover to site teams at contract awardPrepare estimating handover packsMaintain notes of handover meetingProvide ongoing support to site teams relating to estimate and key assumptionsKey measures & targets:Winning work to meet the Company’s objectives Developing a coherent and consistent tender submission with the use of key estimating assumptionsDeveloping a tender win strategy alongside the business unit teamsProviding temporary works support for tenders and for the design element of design and construct tendersKey relationships:Estimating TeamEngineering TeamSupply Chain TeamQualifications and SkillsThe successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:EssentialEngineering or commercial backgroundExperience in water and civilsProven track record working on tenders ranging up to 50mNumerate and IT literate, familiar with estimating software and Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel Chartered, incorporated status or similarConfidence in dealing with customers and personnel within Barhale at a senior levelAbility to ensure all tender submissions are both feasible and profitable
