Pinnacle Recruitment are currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor on a permanent basis. This role will be based in Portsmouth so local candidates only.
You will be working for a specialist civil engineering contract who tackle challenging flood defence schemes along the UK’s coastlines and rivers and maintain water sector infrastructure.
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 DOE + pkg
Duties:
- Establish and maintain the Operations/Commercial partnership required to meet the needs of each project.
- Monitor manage risk and associated budgets.
- Monitor performance standards and quality.
- Procure subcontractors at lower than Tender sums whenever possible. Seek to negotiate the best price for the company.
- Establish and actively promote working relationships between the department, through effective communication and ensuring Company procedures are followed.
- Fully understand the Contract and scope of work and advise/communicate to relevant project team members.
- Discuss and develop procurement strategy with team members and in accordance with the contract programme. Monitor and update as necessary.
- Submit timely applications for payments to ensure cash can be collected in accordance with the Contract.
- Recover retentions in accordance with the Contract.
- Recognise opportunity and potential for increased value. Evaluate and submit prices in a timely fashion to achieve optimum outcome. Wherever possible pre-price variations to maximise returns.
- Review costs and value in conjunction with the site team to ensure timely and accurate forecasting.
- Provide support and development to other members of the project team.
Requirements:
- Preferably HNC or Degree educated in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors membership (RICS) (desirable).
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a Civil Engineering environment.
- Experience of Dispute resolution.
- Understanding of CVRs and financial reports.
