Overview
In this role you lead the H&S team to develop and implement the project health, safety and wellbeing strategy within rail projects. You will promote H&S best practice across management, supervision, and contractors, ensuring compliance with Railway Safety Certification and related licenses. You provide expert coaching and lead investigations into accidents and incidents, driving remedial actions. The role combines leadership, compliance, and hands-on safety improvement in a high-demand rail environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the H&S team to develop and implement project health, safety and wellbeing strategy
- Promote H&S best practice across management, supervision, workforce and contractors
- Ensure compliance with Railway Safety Certification, licenses, ISO standards and applicable legislation
- Provide professional health and safety advice, training and education to management, supervisors, H&S team and contractors
- Lead and support accident and incident investigations and manage corrective actions
- Coordinate investigation recommendations and remedial actions with managers and supervisors
Key requirements
- Minimum 5 years in a Health and Safety role
- Experience with managing a team
- Degree (or equivalent) qualified in health and safety with IOSH chartered membership (CIMIOSH)
- Rail and civil engineering interfaces knowledge
- Previous rail industry experience and PTS (minimum 5 years in rail)
