Job ID: 7843Salary: 65,000 - 75,000 + PkgLocation: SwindonRegion: Nationwide, WiltshireWe are currently seeking a Big Manager to work for a major contractor to bolster and highly successful pre construction team working on multi discipline civil engineering tenders up to 100mThe ideal candidate will be tasked to To lead, manage and co-ordinate all aspects of large scale bids (and sometimes PQQs) ensuring that high quality, compelling proposals are delivered to the customer in a manner consistent with the Lifecycle and strategy for winning the right business.You will obtain Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across the entire supply chain, Have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines is essential, as is a flexible attitude to deal with a variable and demanding workload. It is important to be a strong team player with proven experience of leading an estimating team, but also able to work on own initiative. Able to prepare written proposals to Clients questions to form winning bids. Strong all round knowledge of Estimating is required alongside a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages . The individual will hold a valid CSCS card, hold membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CIOB or ICE or be qualified through experience gained in a similar role.Main Responsibilities:Participate in the selection of realistic, achievable, profitable opportunitiesFormulate and agree bid & win strategies with senior management to secure profitable ordersForm relationships with the customer or their representatives to develop clear understanding of their requirements to enable development of our value propositionEstablish, manage and maintain an approved bid budgetOversee and lead the preparation, coordination and delivery of presentations to customers as required, to successfully communicate our proposalsAttendance at key customer meetings and industry events (e.g. bidder open days)Oversee the establishment, production and implementation of bid management processes,Develop technical expertise to differentiate the regional business from competing regional businessesEnsure that technical support is provided throughout bids and delivery as requiredEncourage knowledge sharing across Centres of Excellence and the wider Group (harness the capability of the larger organisation on a local basis)Provide leadership to the design, development and engineering solutions teams, ensuring effective resource allocation to bid teams and projectsLead and manage teams effectively to work with customers, to optimise value in bids and on projectsSupport the Delivery Unit Commercial Director in post bid negotiationsEnsure that identified risk and opportunity is managed as part of the pricing processParticipate in providing the “winning strategy” including margin/profit decisionsSupervise and provide commercial & technical advice to estimatorsAssist with and prepare documentation for submission to the customerEnsure that considered responses are produced to customer generated questions / queries during / after the tender processEnsure that appropriate and adequate handover information is generated to enable the project operational and commercial team to fully understand the delivery strategy adopted in the tender and that all relevant documentation is transferredLead, coach and develop individuals to build high performing teams and create a pipeline of talent to both enhance and grow the teamEnsure a relentless focus on Zero HarmSupport the delivery of companies Sustainability activitiesAs part of a lucrative salary the successful applicant with get a comprehensive package which will include a car or allowance
