A Residential Developer based in London urgently seeks a Town Planner to join their busy team. The Company is a thriving Developer that undertakes work on large JV’s, schemes in London and home Counties to get planning permission and sell and acquisitions that they are looking to build out in the home Counties and commuter belt areas. With this in mind, there is much diversity to be had on the types of work undertaken.
The role will be to report into the Planning Director and assist with Planning reviews and Planning applications on various schemes. The role will suit someone that has worked for a Planning Consultancy, although Developer experience is also attractive.
- At least 3 years of solid experience in a professional UK Town Planning environment; Private sector background preferred, although commercial awareness is essential if coming from a local authority position.
- Appraise the development potential of sites and provide written and verbal advice to Directors.
- Experience in promoting or processing residential planning applications.
- Ability to write thorough and concise planning statements and applications.
- Some experience at committee hearings.
- Ability or readiness to manage your own smaller scale projects and assist with the larger projects.
- A broad interest in planning for a variety of sectors.
- A strong desire to work in a small but growing team with involvement in all stages of a project.
- Interest in working for a growing house builder with genuine opportunities for progression.
- An open-minded, teamworking mentality.
- A willingness to travel to sites across the UK as required.
- Manage external sub-consultants in the preparation of planning applications and possible appeals.
- Support the Directors in larger scale projects, strategic land promotion and in their work with community groups.
- Take on increasing responsibility across the business as you become more experienced.
- Undertaking evidence base studies (e.g. housing assessments, employment land reviews, infrastructure assessments etc.).
- Management, including financial management, of projects (subject to experience).
