A Main Rail Contractor is currently seeking a Sub/Site Agent to work on a major station redevelopment lasting until 2019. The candidate must come from a solid main contractor background and at least be Senior Engineer status. This contractor is one of the UK’s top contractors who are continuing to win tenders on important civil rail projects for Network Rail and London Underground and have already cemented their status as a contractor on HS2.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
- Degree or HNC Qualified in Civil Engineering
- Past experience with a main civil engineering contractor in the Rail sector
- Experience in managing site and section engineers
Job Description:
- Attend meetings with Client, NR etc either with PM or on behalf of PM.
- Produce or check works risk assessments/method statements.
- Approve sub contractors’/suppliers’ risk assessments/method statements.
- Produce short term/weekly programmes to deliver the Contract programme.
- Explanation of works preparations to the project management/supervision team.
- Raise requests for further information from the Client.
- Deal with requests for further information from suppliers/sub contractors.
- Material and equipment requisitions.
- Define areas of responsibility for Engineers.
- Ensure flow of information to construction teams.
- Explanation of production targets to construction teams.
- Coordinate sub contractors’ programmes and organisation of attendances.
- Issue of instructions to sub contractors in accordance with project authority protocols.
- Implement change order management.
- Collaborate in Contract Analysis and Risk management.
- Receive and authorise record sheets from suppliers/sub contractors.
- Prepare and submit record sheets.
- Maintain a daily record of progress, activities, changes and events.
- Monitor resource usage against cost forecasts.
- Reconciliation of materials usage.
- Produce/check ITPs.
- Ensure high standards of work production/insigate robust checking procedures.
- Deliver own works and sub contractors’ works in compliance with Contract requirements.
- Initiate and close out Corrective Actions and Preventative Actions for any NCRs raised.
- Deliver records and documents required by the Contract.
- Formulate environmental protection measures.
- Ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
- Appointed duties as recorded in Project IMS Plan.
- Initiate and close out any actions arising from environmental hazards, incidents or Close Calls.
