Location: London

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Manager with previous experience of managing major projects with values up to £250m, working for main civil engineering contractors. This project is part of a wider area redevelopment, including the construction of 10,000 new homes.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree Qualified in Quantity Surveying
  • At least five years of experience at Commercial Manager level
  • Previous main contractor experience on major rail projects
  • Experience managing high-profile clients such as Network Rail and TFL
  • Experienced with multiple forms of contract including NEC (various options), NR, ICC, Target Cost, etc.
  • Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Desirable)

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a large commercial team of Quantity Surveyors of all levels
  • Report to the Commercial Director of the Rail business
  • Understand contractual requirements of project documents, including roles, responsibilities, and notices required to record changes. Ensure timely issuance of notices.
  • Negotiate contracts with clients and employers, identifying unacceptable terms and conditions
  • Review bonds, warranties, and guarantees for unacceptable wording
  • Liaise with customers, their representatives, and third parties on commercial issues, including agreement of additional monies
  • Cost management for the project, including understanding allowances for work elements, cost to end of reporting period, and forecast cost to completion
  • Establish and utilize cost management systems
  • Value management for the project
  • Prepare interim and final accounts, ensuring payment
  • Understand true value to end of reporting period, compare with actual costs, and forecast final value at completion
  • Manage project changes
