Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team working within Kent/Area 4. Working as an experienced QS you will be working for a well‑established business that provides high quality asphalt and bitumen surfacing solutions throughout the South of England to a wide range of clients ranging from large multi‑national contractors, local authorities to civil engineering companies and smaller independent local building firms.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor contract costs against agreed budgets – company financial reporting.
  • Develop and monitor the use of cost and financial reporting systems.
  • Identify potential risks and evaluate options for control.
  • Guide and advise staff on contractual issues.
  • Guide and develop site staff, identifying training where necessary.
  • Monitor contract compliance against statutory requirements.
  • Oversee the procedures for certification for contract payments to sub‑contractors.

Qualifications and experience

  • HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a construction related subject.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of NEC contracts/sub‑contracts is essential.
  • Experience with bitumen/asphalt surfacing contracts and sub‑contracts.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
