A quantity surveyor is urgently required for a highly successful contractor, the project is an affordable housing development in an £80m project in Essex.
Responsibilities
- Maximising the value and quality of the project while keeping at minimal cost.
- Preparing liability schedules to present to the commercial director.
- Supporting the management of the PQS relationship.
- Making enquiries of sub-contractors including the schedules of the take-offs and preparing the bid analysis.
- Arranging sub-contractors terms and conditions with the commercial director, making sure all the terms are back-to-back with the main contract.
- Leading pre-commencement sub-contractor meeting and preparing in conjunction with the project director.
- Placing the sub-contractors and material orders including confirmation of price and the delivery date in conjunction with the project team.
- Draft and issue all contract correspondence.
- Ensure all contract variations are properly documented and identified.
To apply for this role you need to have 3 years’ experience in the industry; you will also need financial management experience, excellent problem solving skills, excellent communication skills and to negotiate effectively. You will need to be able to absorb complex information, a clear understanding of standard building contracts, you need to be professional – well presented – reliable – punctual and responsible, good working knowledge of Word and Excel as a minimum and a sound understanding of building technology and ability to read and understand construction drawings/specifications.
