We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join an established team in the Anglia area supporting projects and frameworks in a commercial capacity whilst leading a team of Quantity Surveyors in the region.
A busy and fast-paced business unit involved in a range of civil engineering works predominantly associated with rail (bridges, embankments, stations, platforms, tunnels etc.). The business unit is involved in multi-disciplinary civils projects across the Anglia region, whether infrastructure projects or asset management/maintenance works around the region.
The Role
As Managing Quantity Surveyor you will be working within the Anglia Framework Delivery team, responsible for managing a commercial team, primarily dedicated to schemes within the local rail maintenance framework, but also providing support to other projects in the South East. Your remit and day-to-day responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Being ‘number 2’ to the regional Commercial Manager providing senior level commercial support in the commercial management of projects and contracts including management of the regional commercial team.
- Management and leadership of a team of Assistant Quantity Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors with day-to-day guidance, mentorship and contractual advice.
- Leading the commercial management of multiple sites on time and to budget.
- Pricing and ensuring estimates are submitted accurately and on time.
- Resolving pricing issues with clients.
- Client liaison – being customer facing in the contractual negotiations of change and disputes.
- Liaison with Site Managers to collate information on day-to-day remits.
- Subcontractor management.
- Change management and early warnings.
- Contract administration (NEC/NR forms of contract).
- CVR’s.
- Final accounting.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor with demonstrable experience of managing/leading a team of Quantity Surveyors and being client facing for complex commercial/contractual negotiations.
Essential
- Civil Engineering project experience (rail, bridges, roads, structures for example).
- Experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor (or Senior) on a civils maintenance framework i.e. rail, roads etc.
- Contractual experience with NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract.
- Experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor (or Senior Quantity Surveyor with relevant management experience of a team of Quantity Surveyors’) in a civils contracting environment.
Desirable
- Some rail experience would be beneficial but is not essential for the position.
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management – Degree/HNC/HND.
- Professional accreditation/affiliation would be advantageous (MRICS for example).
