A leading, national main contractor delivering multi‐million pound public and commercial projects welcomes a Bid Manager to join their Hertfordshire office. The company works across education, leisure, health, retail, hotels, offices and national frameworks for Government and Local Authorities, and is recognised as one of the industry's most reputable main contractors.

The role requires an experienced Bid Manager with excellent technical knowledge, a thorough understanding of construction processes and a proven ability to lead customer engagement teams. You will demonstrate a working knowledge of bidding regulations, sustainability codes, sector guidance documents, and tender processes, while managing the commercial, programme, and contractual aspects of the tender life‐cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the client's aspirations and needs to deliver a well‐considered and professional tender return.
  • Present commercially competitive net tender costs, identifying and mitigating risks and opportunities, and demonstrating competitive advantage to secure future workload.
  • Oversee all bids within the department to ensure consistent content, messaging and presentation.
  • Ensure all bids have a win strategy communicated to all team members and reflected in the submission.
  • Manage specific bids from receipt of tender documentation to handover to the production team.
  • Develop a strategy for winning each individual bid, covering quality, design development, innovation, supply chain, financial and legal response.
  • Hold launch meetings and regular review meetings with the bid team to keep the bid on course.
  • Lead production of the bid document in both electronic and hard‐copy formats, supervising administration and graphic design staff, and liaising with external printers and designers.
  • Manage final negotiations leading to contract signing.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Preferably a relevant degree and/or membership of a recognised construction body (CIOB, ICE).
  • Extensive experience of bid management and bid coordination on traditional contract forms at tender and construction stages.
  • Proven success in winning bids/tenders within the Construction industry.
  • Well‐developed analytical, oral and presentation/communication skills.
  • High‐quality presentational skills and the ability to present to varied audiences, including clients, design teams, supply chain and internal stakeholders.
  • Track record of successfully managing multiple bids simultaneously.
