We have an exciting opportunity to work on a Large Major Civil Engineering project for a Tier 1 Contractor leading the £1.9m project. This Tier 1 contractor has been appointed to the major civil engineering project on a Joint Venture basis. The project is well under way and they now have a need to recruit for a Health & Safety Advisor due to the increased volume of work.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working with large civils schemes, major projects background, either within heavy civils, tunneling, earthworks, highways or rail infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Contribute to a culture of “Everyone Home Safe and Healthy every day”
- Support and provide information to site teams to ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the construction plans
- Follow up on any required outcomes from inspections that have been carried out on HMJV sites
- Help develop and implement Health, Safety and Wellbeing campaigns and improvements plans in agreement with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager
- Support investigations of close call, near miss and other incidents on project sites
- Assist the Project team by identifying training needs
- Assist in producing Health and Safety plans, procedures and associated documentation and check compliance
- Assist in obtaining any consents/permits or exemptions that are required
- Ensure control and storage of Health and Safety and associated documentation
- Maintain records as necessary to ensure compliance with Legislation, HMJV procedures and Contract Requirements
- Provide reports, presentations and information as directed by the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager
- Assist the Project team with development of plans and process to support delivery of work
- Assist the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager in the development of site/office inductions
- Ensure any issues are managed and escalated to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager where necessary
- Offer guidance, direction and instruction to colleagues as required
- Disseminate information issued by HMJV to relevant employees
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Sound knowledge of Tunnel Construction methods
- Relevant qualification in Health and Safety or previous experience in a similar role
- Problem solving and managing tight deadlines
- Prioritisation of own workload in a busy office environment
- MS Package knowledge (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
