Health and Safety Advisor – Civil Engineering

Salary: Up To Β£45K + Pkg

We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to work for a Regional Civil Contractor who works across London specializing in a variety of civil engineering sectors with a primary focus on infrastructure-based projects. The role will be based in London with the candidate expected to travel intermittently to various project sites when required.

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Supporting managers and employees to implement the health and safety systems, including delivery of objectives and plans.
  2. Undertaking incident/accident investigation and report writing.
  3. Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.
  4. Undertaking risk assessments and site inspections to consider how risks can be reduced.
  5. Keeping records of inspection findings and producing reports that suggest improvements.
  6. Delivering site safety inductions to new personnel.
  7. Ensuring that equipment is installed correctly/safely.
  8. Writing internal health and safety policies/strategies.
  9. Compiling statistics.
  10. Assisting procurement team with tender document preparation in relation to environmental, health and safety questions.
  11. Making presentations to groups of employees/managers.
  12. Instigating health and safety meetings and training courses for managers and employees.
  13. Liaising with relevant authorities, i.e. Health and Safety Executive.
  14. Reviewing and interpreting environmental reports.
  15. Ensuring compliance with environmental statutory obligations.
  16. Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation.
  17. Making changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation.
  18. Producing management reports, newsletters and bulletins.
  19. Managing and organising the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos.
  20. Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
