As Pinnacle Pet Group continues to grow, we are seeking a People Shared Services Manager to join our People Team on a fixed term basis for 18 months. This role is remote (UK based) with occasional travel to London. The People Shared Service has been designed to deliver a consistent, efficient and high-quality model for People services across Pinnacle Pet Group (PPG). Phase One of this model focuses on building a UK-centric Shared Service covering HR administration, employee data management, and payroll governance for all UK entities, supporting around 1,200 colleagues.
Package: We are offering a salary of up to £52,000 per annum (depending on experience), 24 days holiday, plus your birthday as an additional day, life assurance, private medical insurance, and a range of other employee benefits!
What you’ll get up to as our People Shared Services Manager: Reporting into the Head of People Operations, this is a pivotal role within our evolving Shared Service model. You’ll oversee day to day delivery of all our HR Operations and Payroll Services, including the management of joiners, leavers, contracts, employee data, HR documentation and the governance and oversight of outsourced payroll delivery. The role will ensure that both People Operations and Payroll teams deliver a seamless, compliant, and customer-focused service. A key emphasis will be placed on process standardisation, automation, and the effective use of technology — particularly Sage, Kronos and Workday — to drive efficiency, data accuracy and colleague experience. This role requires a highly capable and resilient leader with a proven ability to manage remote teams, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver transformation within a Shared Service context.
What we look for in you as a People Shared Services Manager:
- Extensive experience in UK Payroll management, ideally within a Shared Service or multi-site organisation.
- Experience of working with an HR Operational team to ensure clear and robust processes and procedures are in place.
- Experience of designing and documenting payroll and HR processes using established process map methodology and SOPs.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements including PAYE, NI, statutory pay, pension auto-enrolment and HMRC reporting.
- Experience managing outsourced payroll providers, including governance, reconciliations and performance monitoring.
- Proven experience of implementing and managing HR and payroll processes using Sage, Kronos and Workday.
- Demonstrable track record of leading remote teams, building high performance and engagement through clear direction and accountability.
- Strong capability in process improvement, automation and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence across People, Finance, Compliance and external vendors.
- Sound understanding of employment law, GDPR and data governance.
- Commercial awareness and experience providing cost and payroll insights to senior stakeholders.
