As Pinnacle Pet Group continues to grow, we are seeking a Senior Pricing Analyst (Behaviour Modelling) to join our Actuarial Pricing team. As a Senior Pricing Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering the strategy for behaviour modelling and ensuring our pricing capabilities are best in class. This role is crucial in driving the growth and success of the business through advanced pricing analytics, data science, and modelling of customer decisions. Our team of experienced pricing experts will prioritise supporting new joiners and providing any training that is needed.

Package: We are offering a salary of up to £59,500 per annum (depending on experience), 24 days holiday, plus your birthday as an additional day, life assurance, Private Health Cover and a range of other employee benefits!

Location: Hybrid - there will be a requirement to work from our London Paddington office one day per month.

What you’ll get up to as our Market Pricing Analyst:

  • Support and deliver Behaviour Modelling team’s strategic and tactical objectives.
  • Adhere to Behaviour Modelling Governance Framework’s project and change management processes, and produce associated quality and technical documentation for each model development.
  • Generate regular model performance monitoring reports and circulate to stakeholders.
  • Develop project plans and update on progress, chair project gate meetings, and keep record of actions/decisions arising from each meeting with stakeholders.
  • Break down modelling problems into well-defined, useful components, always keeping focus on the business decision or action we are aiming to influence.
  • Use curiosity and the scientific method – i.e. formulate problem, design experiment, measure results – to generate new learnings.
  • Continuously push for improvements in modelling data and technical solutions.
  • Develop and strengthen stakeholder trust in behaviour models, allowing space for open and constructive feedback from model end users and model reviewers.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain advanced behaviour models for pricing, using data science techniques, machine learning, Python, Radar, and other software tools.
  • Prepare and analyse data for modelling using Python and other data manipulation tools, ensuring quality standards are met, data is enriched, reconciled, and well understood.
  • Deploy models into Radar for use in pricing optimisation, ensuring models are refreshed frequently and model changes are deployed in line with agreed timelines.
  • Communicate with clarity and confidence to wider teams on important model insights that help shape our collective understanding of business processes (or challenges).
  • Collaborate with the wider team, sharing insights from model refreshes and contributing to knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Ensure customer impact is considered at all stages of the modelling process, and that the use of customer data is fair, ethical, and well governed.
  • Support – when required – the wider business on new initiatives, process reengineering, and strategy development, providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Set up personal development goals and complete all mandatory and relevant professional development training.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in pricing analytics, data science, and advanced modelling techniques, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance our pricing capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines related to pricing and data usage, maintaining a strong commitment to fairness and transparency in our pricing practices.
  • Act to deliver good outcomes for retail customers whilst delivering a higher standard of customer care and enabling customers to make effective decisions in their interests.
  • Compliance with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Conduct Rules.

What we look for in you as a Market Pricing Analyst:

  • Experience solving pricing problems using data and quantitative approaches, preferably within insurance pricing.
  • Great attention to low-level detail without compromising focus on high-level objectives.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into workable components, detailing assumptions used and advantages/limitations of chosen approach.
  • Capacity to interrogate current assumptions and focus on delivering business benefits.
  • Creativity and imagination to think of novel solutions to business problems.
  • Good communicator, able to tell the story behind the data.
  • Ability to collaborate and challenge others to push for improvements.
  • Able to positively engage with stakeholders and actively seek feedback related to model assets produced by the team.

  • Experience working with large datasets, preferably using SQL and Python.
  • Experience building pricing and human decision models, preferably using Python, Radar, and Emblem.
