Pinnacle Group is looking for a dedicated Mobile Relief Superintendent (School Caretaker) to join our Total FM Team based across the Leeds & Kirklees area to ensure our school buildings and facilities are well-maintained and secure. It is essential that you have your own transport (mileage paid).

Our Total Facilities Management team delivers integrated asset management and maintenance services across education, leisure, corporate, health and residential sectors. We focus on keeping facilities running smoothly, safely, and efficiently - helping our clients create spaces that work for everyone.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Travelling across 13 schools in the Leeds and Kirklees area, covering the absence of the Superintendents and the Facilities Assistants (Cleaning Supervisor).
  • Being proactive, detail-oriented, and possessing excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Working a Permanent Role of 37½ hours per week, Monday to Friday 7am until 3pm during term time, then during school holidays 8am - 4pm. When covering for the Facilities Assistant, this may finish at 7 pm with the addition of overtime to cover out-of-hours activities, holidays, and sickness cover.

Main Daily Activities:

  • Providing caretaker/superintendent cover as requested for annual leave and sickness across the Leeds/Kirklees PFI schools portfolio; ensuring security and integrity of the school buildings and grounds through locking and unlocking, patrols, and monitoring third party lettings.
  • Carrying out day-to-day duties according to daily schedule, such as litter picking, sweeping, spot cleaning toilets, and refreshing hand towels and toilet paper.
  • Carrying out defined Planned Preventative Maintenance responsibilities in accordance with each school's schedule.

Reactive Duties:

  • Conducting initial investigations into reactive requests made during the day and making temporary or permanent repairs or notifying helpdesk of the need to call in a service provider.
  • Responding to emergency situations such as floods and bodily fluids, effecting temporary or permanent rectification.
  • Responding to requests for collection of parcels, movement of furniture, and rearrangement of rooms.
  • Being observant for H&S issues and ensuring they are rectified or made safe and reported to management.

General Duties:

  • Providing access, escorting, liaising with, and assisting contractors on site to undertake remedial work or Planned Preventative Maintenance.
  • Carring out minor repairs and decoration works.
  • Participating in cleaning/deep cleaning activities as required.
  • Being proactive by noticing deficiencies in the facilities and either rectifying them or bringing the defect to the attention of management.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management that relate to maintaining the facilities in a clean, functional, and aesthetically pleasing state.
  • Being flexible in shift pattern to cover colleagues' absences due to sickness and annual leave.
  • Overall line management of Facilities Assistant and on-site cleaning team.
  • Fault reporting to helpdesk.

Out of Hours:

  • Being available for lettings of the premises outside of normal hours.
  • Participating in providing an out-of-hours emergency call-out service in line with management instructions.
  • Maintaining communication in the event of any incidents to ensure the availability of school facilities.

Key requirements:

  • Own transport is essential, with mileage paid.
  • A range of general handyperson/DIY skills with the ability to multitask, such as minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
  • Weekly checking and clearing drains and gullies for blockages.
  • Weekly Fire Alarm point checks alongside weekly tests of the Fire Alarm System.
  • Monthly meter readings and monitoring of Electrical and Gas consumption.
  • Good verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate well with parties on all levels.
  • To meet child safeguarding regulations, the appointment to this role will be subject to completion of an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS Check) & checkable Work References.
