Learning Support Assistant β Mainstream Secondary School
Waterlooville, Hampshire
We're recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Waterlooville.
This is a busy, supportive school environment where you'll work with secondary-aged pupils who need some additional help to access lessons, stay organised, build confidence and make progress.
Some pupils may have SEND, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH needs or other additional learning needs, while others may simply benefit from a little extra support in the classroom.
This is a really good opportunity for someone who enjoys working with teenagers and wants to be part of a mainstream school rather than a specialist setting.
The role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work alongside teachers and the wider SEND team to support pupils across the school day.
You may be:
- Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups
- Helping pupils understand and complete classroom tasks
- Supporting literacy, numeracy and organisation
- Helping pupils remain focused and engaged in lessons
- Providing reassurance and encouragement
- Supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs
- Helping pupils manage transitions between lessons
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff
- Encouraging independence rather than doing the work for pupils
The role is varied and you could be supporting different pupils and subjects throughout the day.
Who would suit this role?
We're looking for someone who is patient, approachable, reliable and confident working with teenagers.
Previous school experience is helpful, but it isn't essential. xgikmsk
