Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Contract: Part‑time, 4 days per week
Start Date: January 2026
A secondary school in Horsham is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) who is confident, motivated and committed to helping young people achieve their full potential.
Role Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Lead small‑group interventions and occasionally deliver whole‑class learning under the guidance of teaching staff
- Assist with planning, preparation, and assessment
- Provide tailored support for students with diverse educational needs
- Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Candidate Requirements
- Hold HLTA status (or have equivalent experience)
- Demonstrate strong communication, organisational, and behaviour‑management skills
- Take a proactive, flexible, and student‑centred approach
- Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
Safeguarding
All applicants must have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one prior to appointment. We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Successful applicants will be required to undertake background checks, including obtaining a DBS if they do not hold a valid certificate that is on the update service.
