About the School

This specialist SEMH school supports pupils aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The environment is structured, supportive and focused on helping students rebuild confidence, regulate emotions and re-engage with learning. We are keen to hear from individuals who are confident supporting young people who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education and benefit from consistent, positive adult role models.

The Role

Learning Support Assistants in this setting work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils both inside and outside the classroom.

Typical Responsibilities Include

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Helping pupils regulate behaviour and remain engaged with learning
  • Supporting structured classroom activities and routines
  • Encouraging positive relationships and communication
  • Promoting pupil wellbeing and safeguarding at all times

This is a challenging but highly rewarding environment where strong relationships, patience and consistency are key.

Requirements

  • DBS on the Update Service
  • Up to date safeguarding training
  • A calm, patient and confident approach
  • Ability to build strong relationships with young people
