Are you a passionate Science Teacher looking for a rewarding role where you can genuinely change young people’s lives? We are working with a specialist SEMH Alternative Provision in Burgess Hill who are seeking a dedicated and resilient Science Teacher to join their team from September. This setting supports students aged 5–16 who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, behavioural challenges, and those who have struggled to engage in mainstream education. The focus is on rebuilding confidence, re-engaging learners, and supporting positive long-term outcomes.

The Role

  • Teach Science across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, accessible lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Support students who may present with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Use creative and practical approaches to re-engage learners in science.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students to support progress and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with support staff and wider pastoral teams.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds QTS, QTLS, or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching Science at secondary level.
  • Has experience working with SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision settings (desirable).
  • Is confident managing behaviour and using de-escalation strategies.
  • Is resilient, patient, and relationship-focused.
  • Has a passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve success.
