Are you a passionate Primary Teacher looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity where you can make a real difference?

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Primary Teacher to join a specialist SEMH Alternative Provision in Burgess Hill from September. This is a part-time role working Monday to Wednesday, supporting pupils who require a more personalised and nurturing approach to education.

The provision supports children aged 5–11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, and those who may have struggled to engage in mainstream education. The focus is on rebuilding confidence, re-engaging learners, and creating positive learning experiences.

The Role

As a Primary Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across the primary curriculum.

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs and varying levels of ability.

  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.

  • Use creative and flexible teaching approaches to re-engage learners.

  • Manage behaviour effectively using positive strategies and de-escalation techniques.

  • Work closely with support staff and pastoral teams.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Has experience teaching within Primary education.

  • Has experience with, or a strong understanding of, SEMH and SEND.

  • Is calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.

  • Has strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.

  • Is committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
