Part-Time SEND Teaching Assistant – Reception (Autism Support) Brighton | 12:15pm–3:15pm | Monday–Friday

We are currently supporting a primary school in Brighton who are seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception-aged child with Autism, starting as soon as possible and continuing for the remainder of the academic year.

About the role:

  • This is a highly nurturing and hands-on SEND role, supporting a child who:
  • Has an Autism diagnosis
  • Is at a pre-verbal stage with significantly delayed language and communication
  • Engages primarily in sensory-based play
  • Is not toilet trained
  • Shows a strong preference for outdoor learning and enjoys activities such as bubble play

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to provide consistent, calm, and responsive support, helping the child feel safe, regulated, and able to access the school environment.

Role details:

  • Hours: 12:15pm – 3:15pm (3 hours per day)
  • Days: Monday to Friday
  • Start: As soon as possible
  • Duration: Until the end of the academic year

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism and/or SEND
  • A nurturing, patient, and proactive approach
  • Confidence supporting sensory needs and outdoor learning
  • Experience with personal care (desirable but not essential)
  • A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
