Are you a passionate English Teacher looking to make a real difference to the lives of young people?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient English Teacher to join a specialist Alternative Provision in Worthing from September.
This setting supports students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have found mainstream education challenging and require a more personalised approach to learning.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with small groups of students, build meaningful relationships, and help young people re‑engage with education in a supportive and nurturing environment.
The Role
- Teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet individual learning needs.
- Support students who may experience anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, trauma, or challenging behaviour.
- Encourage confidence, self‑esteem, and a positive attitude towards learning.
- Monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies to support achievement.
- Work closely with support staff, families, and external professionals.

- Be at risk of exclusion or have been excluded from mainstream school.
- Struggle with SEMH needs, anxiety, or school avoidance.
- Require smaller class sizes and a more personalised learning environment.

We Are Looking For Someone Who
- Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Has experience teaching English at secondary level.
- Has experience with, or a strong understanding of, SEMH and SEND.
- Is confident managing behaviour and using de‑escalation strategies.
- Can build positive and trusting relationships with vulnerable young people.
- Is resilient, patient, and committed to improving outcomes for students.
- Believes every young person can succeed with the right support.
