We are seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to join our school as a Full-time Deputy Head Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to play a crucial role in shaping the future of our school and its students. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and will have a particular focus on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) support for our diverse student body.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management: Work closely with the Head Teacher to develop and implement the school’s vision, values, and strategic plan.
- Leadership and Management: Lead by example, promoting high standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour throughout the school.
- Leadership and Management: Contribute to the day-to-day management of the school, including staff deployment and resource allocation.
- Leadership and Management: Chair meetings and lead assemblies as required.
- Leadership and Management: Deputise for the Head Teacher in their absence, ensuring the smooth running of the school.
- Teaching and Learning: Oversee curriculum development and implementation across all key stages.
- Teaching and Learning: Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning, providing constructive feedback and support to staff.
- Teaching and Learning: Lead on assessment and data analysis, using insights to drive school improvement.
- Teaching and Learning: Develop and implement strategies to raise student achievement and close attainment gaps.
- Teaching and Learning: Teach a reduced timetable appropriate to the Deputy Head role.
- SEMH Support: Lead the development and implementation of the school’s SEMH strategy.
- SEMH Support: Coordinate with external agencies and professionals to provide comprehensive support for students with SEMH needs.
- SEMH Support: Train and support staff in identifying and addressing SEMH issues among students.
- SEMH Support: Develop and oversee intervention programs for students with SEMH challenges.
- SEMH Support: Monitor and evaluate the impact of SEMH initiatives on student well-being and academic progress.
- Staff Development: Contribute to the recruitment, induction, and professional development of teaching and support staff.
- Staff Development: Identify training needs and coordinate appropriate professional development opportunities.
- Staff Development: Mentor and coach middle leaders to develop their leadership skills.
- Staff Development: Conduct performance management reviews for designated staff members.
- Safeguarding and Pastoral Care: Act as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
- Safeguarding and Pastoral Care: Oversee the school’s pastoral care system, ensuring that all students receive appropriate support.
- Safeguarding and Pastoral Care: Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community.
- Safeguarding and Pastoral Care: Manage student behaviour and attendance, implementing effective strategies to promote positive conduct and regular attendance.
- School Improvement: Contribute to the school’s self-evaluation process and development planning.
- School Improvement: Lead on specific whole-school improvement initiatives as directed by the Head Teacher.
- School Improvement: Prepare for and contribute to Ofsted inspections and other external evaluations.
