We are recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher to join a specialist secondary school supporting young people with autism, located just outside of Burgess Hill. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive setting where you can make a genuine difference to students’ learning, confidence and development.

The school are seeking a teacher for a one-year maternity cover, with the potential for a longer-term or permanent opportunity for the right candidate. They are keen to have someone settled into the school before the end of term, allowing you time to get to know the pupils, routines and team so you can hit the ground running from the new academic year.

The successful candidate will tutor a Year 8 class and also deliver PE / Forest School sessions, creating engaging and practical learning experiences for students.

The Role:

  • Teaching and tutoring a Year 8 class within a specialist autism setting
  • Delivering PE and Forest School lessons
  • Planning and adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Supporting students’ communication, emotional regulation and confidence
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
  • Creating a calm, structured and engaging learning environment
  • Working closely with support staff and the wider school team

  • Salary: M1 – M2 depending on experience
