We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEMH Teacher to join our specialist provision in Worthing on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This rewarding role involves working with secondary‑aged students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and are working below age‑related academic expectations. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is committed to supporting vulnerable young people, helping them overcome barriers to learning, and enabling them to achieve both academically and personally.
The Role
As a member of our dedicated teaching team, you will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will create a safe, supportive learning environment where pupils can develop confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards education. Many of our students have experienced challenges that have impacted their learning journey. We are therefore looking for a teacher who can build strong relationships, maintain high expectations, and provide the consistency and encouragement needed to help every pupil succeed.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Has experience teaching secondary‑aged students
- Understands the needs of pupils with SEMH and additional barriers to learning
- Can deliver creative and engaging lessons tailored to a range of abilities
- Has excellent behaviour management and relationship‑building skills
- Is patient, adaptable, and resilient
- Is committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
