About the Role

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistants to support pupils in educational settings across Worthing. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people who require additional emotional, behavioural, and learning support. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in implementing individual learning and behaviour support plans.

  • Promote positive behaviour and de‐escalate challenging situations effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
  • Monitor and record student progress and wellbeing.

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience within schools, alternative provisions, youth work, care settings, or residential support.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and behaviour management strategies.
