A secondary alternative provision in Hastings is seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to support pupils who benefit from a smaller, more structured learning environment. The provision works with secondary-aged students who may need additional support with behaviour, confidence, emotional regulation, or engagement in education. The school is looking for a Learning Support Assistant who can bring consistency, patience, and a positive attitude to the role. This is a good opportunity for someone who understands that every pupil’s needs are different and who can support young people with both their learning and personal development.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teaching staff to help pupils access lessons, follow routines, and develop positive relationships within the provision. You may support students individually, in small groups, or during wider school activities.

Pay rate: Per day £94 - £100 depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting secondary-aged pupils in an alternative provision setting
  • Helping students access learning and remain engaged in lessons
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH, SEN, or behaviour-related needs
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and support teams

Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with young people is desirable
  • Alternative provision, SEN, youth work, care, mentoring, coaching, or school experience considered
  • A patient, resilient, and consistent approach
  • Strong communication skills
  • Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs or challenging behaviour
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
