SEMH Teaching Assistant – School in Cranleigh

Pay: £92.63 – £100 per day
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH setting in Cranleigh, supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role involves working in a structured, nurturing, and supportive environment to help students access learning and develop both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in the classroom and around the school
- Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support
- Promote engagement, independence, and learning
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement strategies and interventions
- Support behaviour management in a calm and consistent manner
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development
- Follow all safeguarding procedures
Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviours (or willingness to learn)
- A patient, calm, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of behaviour support strategies
- A proactive and reliable attitude
- A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
- Hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS (update service)
- Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks
