Job Description

Job Title: Primary Teaching Assistant

Location: Slough

Salary: £84 per day, Temp to Perm (Term Time Only)

Contract: Monday – Friday 8.30-3.30

About Us: Our schools are dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for our primary school students with SEMH. We believe in fostering a love for learning and supporting each child's needs to help them reach their full potential. As we continue to prioritise our student's well-being and academic growth, we seek a passionate and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to primary school students with SEMH, individually and in small groups, to ensure they can access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Collaborate closely with primary school teachers to implement differentiated instruction and adapt teaching materials to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH.
  • Support students in developing key literacy, numeracy, and social skills, fostering their confidence and independence in the classroom.
  • Work alongside the SENCO and other staff members to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and support strategies for students with SEMH.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their emotional well-being, self-esteem, and sense of belonging within the school community.
  • Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers and participating in the evaluation and review of support interventions.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment, proactively managing challenging behaviours and promoting positive behaviour management strategies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with primary school students with SEMH, preferably in an educational setting. (desirable)
  • A genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of young children with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a compassionate and nurturing approach to supporting primary school students with SEMH.
  • Knowledge of SEMH-related issues and strategies for supporting primary school students with a range of needs (e.g., autism, dyslexia, speech and language difficulties).
