Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning? We are recruiting resilient, compassionate and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools and specialist provisions across the Crawley area from September. This rewarding role involves supporting students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them build confidence, regulate their emotions and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to secondary‑aged students.
- Support pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and progress.
- Promote positive behaviour and de‑escalate challenging situations using a calm and consistent approach.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and other professionals to support individual learning and behaviour plans.
We're Looking For
- A patient, resilient and empathetic individual with a genuine passion for supporting young people.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs or in a pastoral, youth work, care or mentoring setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A positive role model who can motivate and inspire students to reach their potential.
