A highly regarded and supportive independent prep school in East Sussex is seeking a skilled Speech & Language Assistant to join their team from September. The school caters for children aged 2–13 and offers a nurturing, well‑resourced environment with a strong focus on pastoral care, communication, and individual development. This is a long‑term/permanent position supporting a young pupil in Reception on a 1:1 basis. The pupil requires focused support with speech, language, and communication. The role will involve delivering targeted interventions and adapting strategies to support her development.
Key Responsibilities- Provide tailored 1:1 speech and language support
- Use structured communication methods, including Makaton
- Support the pupil’s engagement in classroom activities
- Work closely with the class teacher and external professionals
- Monitor progress and adapt support strategies accordingly
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Strong knowledge and experience of Makaton – essential
- Experience supporting children with speech and language needs
- Background working within a school or early years setting

- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
