About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistants to join supportive school settings in the Littlehampton area. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people who require additional support to access learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of needs, including autism spectrum conditions, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
- Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
- Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Promote positive behaviour strategies in line with school policies
- Help adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external agencies
About You
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting children with additional needs
- Experienced in working with children or young people (school-based experience desirable but not essential)
- Confident in building positive and supportive relationships
- Able to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
- Flexible and able to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND in an educational setting
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Team Teach or positive behaviour management training (advantageous but not essential)
