We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Learning Assistant to join a specialist setting in Littlehampton. You will be supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a structured, nurturing and supportive classroom environment, helping them to access learning and develop both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide classroom support to pupils within the classroom and wider school environment
- Deliver consistent 1:1 and small group support
- Encourage engagement, independence and positive learning behaviours
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement tailored strategies and support plans
- Support positive behaviour management using calm and consistent approaches
- Promote emotional wellbeing, social development and resilience
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience providing classroom support to children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour (or willingness to learn)
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- An understanding of behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation
- A proactive, reliable and committed attitude
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
