We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Mental Health Worker to join a specialist SEMH setting in Littlehampton, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role involves working in a structured, nurturing, and supportive environment to help students access learning, regulate emotions, and develop both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students in the classroom and around the school
  • Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Promote engagement, independence, and learning
  • Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to implement strategies and interventions
  • Support behaviour management in a calm and consistent manner
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and social development
  • Follow all safeguarding procedures at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviours (or willingness to learn)
  • A patient, calm, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • A proactive and reliable attitude
  • A genuine passion for supporting mental health and additional needs
