We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Mental Health Worker to join a specialist SEMH setting in Littlehampton, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role involves working in a structured, nurturing, and supportive environment to help students access learning, regulate emotions, and develop both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in the classroom and around the school
- Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Promote engagement, independence, and learning
- Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to implement strategies and interventions
- Support behaviour management in a calm and consistent manner
- Promote emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and social development
- Follow all safeguarding procedures at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviours (or willingness to learn)
- A patient, calm, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An understanding of behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
- A proactive and reliable attitude
- A genuine passion for supporting mental health and additional needs
