Pink Tile Education is proud to be supporting a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the East Grinstead area in their search for a dedicated and caring Learning Support Assistant for a September start. This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and proactive individual who is committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
You will work closely with teaching staff to support students across KS3, KS4, and KS5, providing targeted in-class and small group support where needed. The secondary school is looking for someone who brings a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for supporting young people in their learning journey, while helping to maintain a calm, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment.
Role Responsibilities- Provide in-class support to students across KS3–KS5, ensuring they can access learning effectively.
- Work 1:1 with students who require additional support, including those with SEN, SEMH, or additional learning needs.
- Deliver targeted small group interventions to support progress in core subjects.
- Support teaching staff in adapting learning materials and resources to meet individual student needs.
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
- Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies and contribute to a calm learning environment.
- Encourage student engagement, motivation, and independence during lessons.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs where appropriate.
- Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and general learning environment support.
- Support students in developing social skills, confidence, and emotional resilience.
- Supervise students during lessons, transitions, and occasional break or lunchtime duties if required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to support student development.
- Have experience working with children or young people (school-based experience desirable but not essential).
- Be confident supporting students with a range of abilities and needs, including those with SEN, SEMH, or additional learning needs.
- Be patient, adaptable, and able to build positive, trusting relationships with students.
- Be committed to supporting learning, progress, behaviour, and overall student wellbeing.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a supportive school team and follow guidance from teaching staff and SENCOs.
- Be confident implementing strategies to support engagement, concentration, and classroom participation.
- Have a good understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and promotion of positive behaviour.
- Be willing to assist with preparation of learning materials and classroom resources where required.
- Support students on both a 1:1 basis and in small group interventions to reinforce learning objectives.
- Help monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
- Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in learners.
- Support classroom behaviour management in line with school policies.
This role offers the opportunity to work across a well-regarded secondary school that values staff development, teamwork, and inclusive education. Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm. The pay stated is inclusive of the 12.07% PAYE holiday. We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
