A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Brighton is looking for a dedicated Individual Needs Assistant to provide personalised support for pupils with additional needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building meaningful relationships, helping children overcome barriers to learning and supporting pupils to become more confident and independent.
You’ll work closely with teachers, the SEND team and other professionals to ensure pupils receive the encouragement, patience and support they need to thrive both academically and personally.
The Role
As an Individual Needs Assistant, you will
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Support children with EHCPs and individual learning plans.
- Help pupils access classroom activities and develop independence.
- Encourage communication, confidence and positive relationships.
- Support emotional regulation and wellbeing throughout the school day.
- Work alongside teachers and the SEND team to adapt learning activities.
- Celebrate every achievement, big or small.
- We're Looking For Someone Who
- Has experience supporting children within a school, SEND or care setting.
- Is patient, compassionate and understanding.
- Can build trusting relationships with children.
- Has a calm and consistent approach.
- Is confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
- Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a wider team.
Experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, Down syndrome or complex learning needs would be highly desirable.

Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people.
- Experience within a school, SEND or care environment.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Two professional references.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
