We are seeking a dedicated and resilient English Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Horsham, supporting secondary-aged students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This role involves supporting students within English lessons, helping to promote engagement, literacy development, and positive learning behaviours within a structured and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support students within English lessons, fostering engagement and literacy development while encouraging positive learning behaviours.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with students, using empathy, communication, teamwork and organisational skills to manage challenging behaviour.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
  • Confidence supporting secondary English learning.
  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
  • A calm, proactive, and empathetic approach.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Application Requirements

  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) update service, or be willing to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa.

Pay includes 12.07% holiday pay.
