About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in schools across the Haywards Heath area. This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils who may have a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and learning disabilities. You will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential in a supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small group support for pupils with SEND.
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities.
- Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers where appropriate.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or SEND setting.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to the individual needs of students.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
