Learning Support Assistant Mainstream Secondary School Waterlooville, Hampshire Were recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Waterlooville . This is a busy, supportive school environment where youll work with secondary-aged pupils who need some additional help to access lessons, stay organised, build confidence and make progress. Some pupils may have SEND, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH needs or other additional learning needs , while others may simply benefit from a little extra support in the classroom. This is a really good opportunity for someone who enjoys working with teenagers and wants to be part of a mainstream school rather than a specialist setting. The role As a Learning Support Assistant, youll work alongside teachers and the wider SEND team to support pupils across the school day. You may be: Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups Helping pupils understand and complete classroom tasks Supporting literacy, numeracy and organisation Helping pupils remain focused and engaged in lessons Providing reassurance and encouragement Supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs Helping pupils manage transitions between lessons Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff Encouraging independence rather than doing the work for pupils The role is varied and you could be supporting different pupils and subjects throughout the day. Who would suit this role? Were looking for someone who is patient, approachable, reliable and confident working with teenagers . Previous school experience is helpful, but it isnt essential. You may have worked as a: Learning Support Assistant Teaching Assistant SEN Teaching Assistant SEND Teaching Assistant Cover Supervisor Youth Worker Tutor Support Worker Mentor Pastoral Support Assistant Experience supporting SEND, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH or learning difficulties would be useful. Just as importantly, youll need to be able to build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining clear and professional boundaries. Why this role?
