About the Role
We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and committed Social Emotional Support Assistants to join our team supporting children and young people who require additional help with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. In this role, you will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals to provide tailored support that enables pupils to engage positively in education and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Support the development of emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour strategies
- Assist in implementing individual education and behaviour plans (IEPs/BPs)
- Build trusting, consistent relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and safeguarding teams
- Support pupils during classroom learning, transitions, and unstructured times
- Maintain accurate records of progress, behaviour, and interventions
About You
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Calm, patient, and empathetic in challenging situations
- Passionate about supporting children and young people’s wellbeing
- Able to build strong, professional relationships with pupils and staff
- Resilient and confident in managing emotional and behavioural difficulties
- Team-oriented with good communication skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience working in education, youth work, social care, or mental health support
- Understanding of SEMH, autism, ADHD, or trauma-informed practice
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, psychology, or counselling

Pay is inclusive of the 12.07% PAYE holiday.
