About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistants to support pupils across specialist and alternative provision settings in Chichester. This rewarding role involves working closely with students who may experience social, emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges, helping them to engage positively with education and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
- Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies and individual learning plans.
- Assist teachers in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Encourage positive social interactions and emotional regulation.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.
- Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom as required.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs is desirable.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviours.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for making a positive difference in young people's lives.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, psychology, youth work, or related fields are advantageous but not essential.
