Overview

Pink Tile Education is supporting a welcoming secondary school in Chichester in their search for a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Mentor to join their team in September. This is a full‑time permanent position supporting students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The successful candidate will work closely with students who require additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them to re‑engage positively with learning and school life.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support students 1:1 and in small groups with SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.
  • De‑escalate challenging situations using calm, consistent, and professional strategies.
  • Support students in reintegrating into mainstream lessons where appropriate.
  • Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and SEN teams to support student needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies, routines, and emotional regulation.
  • Support students in developing resilience, confidence, and social skills.
  • Assist with monitoring student progress and provide feedback to staff where required.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Uphold school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour.
  • Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills.
  • Calm, resilient, and confident under pressure.
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students.
  • Patient, empathetic, and consistent approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
