We are working with a fantastic SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) centre in Crawley that supports young people who have been excluded from school for a range of different reasons. The centre provides a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where pupils can rebuild their confidence, improve their attendance, and rediscover a love for education.

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic Centre Lead to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the centre, delivering engaging sessions and supporting pupils to make positive changes.

The Role of a Centre Lead

  • Run a well established centre for young people with SEMH challenges.
  • Lead and deliver creative and engaging sessions for young people with SEMH needs.
  • Manage behaviour effectively and confidently, creating a calm and positive learning environment.

  • Help prepare young people for successful transitions back into education or their next steps.
  • Take ownership of the daily running of the centre.
  • Use your creativity to make learning enjoyable, practical, and meaningful.

Please note: This centre does not tolerate physical challenging behaviour. The focus is on positive relationships, behaviour support, boundaries, and helping young people understand their potential.

About the Centre

This is a unique and rewarding environment where every day is different. The centre works hard to provide opportunities beyond the classroom, bringing in professionals to inspire and motivate pupils. The young people benefit from:

  • Weekly meetings and sessions with local police officers.
  • Career-focused talks and workshops from different professionals.
  • Opportunities to explore future pathways and develop life skills.
  • A supportive team environment focused on changing young people's futures.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience leading groups or delivering sessions (HLTA, Cover Supervisor, Unqualified Teacher, Youth Worker, or similar backgrounds welcomed).
  • Is confident managing behaviour and supporting young people with SEMH needs.
  • Has experience working with SEND (desirable but not essential).
  • Can build positive relationships with challenging and vulnerable young people.
  • Is creative, energetic, and able to think outside the box.
  • Has the confidence to take the lead and run the centre effectively.
