Pink Tile Education are working in partnership with a specialist Provision in the Burgess Hill area, who are seeking a passionate, resilient, and adaptable Science Teacher to join their team from September. This provision supports pupils aged 5–16 who are unable to access mainstream education due to medical needs, behavioural challenges, social, emotional and mental health needs, or other barriers to learning. The school provides a highly supportive and nurturing environment where students are encouraged to rebuild confidence, regulate emotions, and positively re-engage with education.

The successful candidate will be teaching Science across secondary age groups, delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to meet a range of learning abilities and additional needs. Many pupils may have experienced disruption within education and can present with low confidence, emotional dysregulation, or behavioural challenges, so the school are looking for someone calm, patient, and relationship-focused.

This role would suit someone who understands that behaviour is often a form of communication and who can approach challenges with consistency, empathy, and resilience.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be a qualified teacher or experienced unqualified teacher with strong Science knowledge
  • Have experience working with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs, or vulnerable young people
  • Be confident managing challenging behaviour, including verbal dysregulation
  • Have a good understanding of mental health and trauma-informed practice
  • Be engaging, creative, and adaptable in their teaching approach
  • Be able to differentiate learning to meet a variety of needs and abilities
  • Be passionate about helping students rebuild confidence and enjoy learning again
  • Be resilient, proactive, and able to build positive professional relationships with students and staff

The school are also open to candidates with transferable experience from specialist provisions, intervention settings, youth work, mentoring, or therapeutic environments who are passionate about supporting vulnerable young people.
