A well-established nursery in Bexhill-on-Sea is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Nursery Manager to join their leadership team. The successful candidate will support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting, ensuring high standards of care, learning, safeguarding, and staff support are consistently maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Nursery Manager with the daily operations of the nursery
- Leading by example and acting as a positive role model for staff and children
- Ensuring safeguarding procedures and nursery policies are followed at all times
- Supporting staff development, mentoring, and day-to-day supervision
- Overseeing ratios, room organisation, and staff deployment across the setting
- Supporting with observations, assessments, and learning journeys
- Ensuring the EYFS curriculum is implemented effectively throughout the nursery
- Supporting staff with planning engaging and age-appropriate learning opportunities
- Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
- Supporting children with SEN and EAL using appropriate strategies and interventions
- Monitoring standards within rooms, including learning environments and displays
- Supporting with risk assessments, health & safety checks, and compliance procedures
- Assisting with parent meetings, staff meetings, and nursery events
- Promoting British Values and positive behaviour throughout the setting
- Supporting the nursery team to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children
Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years
- Previous experience within a nursery setting, ideally in a senior or leadership role
- Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and safeguarding practices
- Confident leading and supporting a team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain high standards across the nursery
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
